How detection works

Each story URL is fetched (GET, redirects followed, 15-second timeout) and classified by the first matching response header, in this priority order:

  1. 1.Railwayx-railway-edge

  4. 4.Fly.iofly-request-id
  5. 5.Renderrndr-id
  6. 6.GitHub Pagesx-github-request-id
  7. 7.Cloudflarecf-ray

A site can sit behind several providers at once (an app on Vercel fronted by Cloudflare, say); priority order decides the label. “Other” responded without any known header, “Text post” has no external URL (Ask HN and friends), and “Unreachable” didn’t respond in time.

Each story also shows the network that served it: the AS announcing the DNS-resolved IP of the final response, matched against the global BGP table from bgp.tools (refreshed daily). That’s how a Vercel-labeled site can show Amazon or Cloudflare as its network.
